IIT JEE mains
Introduction
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN Or IIT JEE mains will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. Prior to that, the Examination was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. In 2003 All India engineering entrance examination (AIEEE) was introduced for admissions in higher education engineering courses. In 2013 the AIEEE was renamed JEE mains.
About Exam
IIT JEE Main has two papers, Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates may opt for either or both of them. Both papers contain multiple-choice questions. Paper-I is for admission to B.E./B. Tech courses are conducted in a Computer Based Test mode. Paper-II is for admission in B. Arch. and B. Planning courses and will also be conducted in Computer Based Test mode except for one paper, namely the ‘Drawing Test’ which shall be conducted in Pen and Paper mode or offline mode. From January 2020 an additional Paper – III is being introduced for B. Planning courses separately.
Participating Collages
The IIT JEE mains seat allocation is a central body Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the joint admission process for a total of 23 Indian Institute of Technology campuses, 31 National Institute of Technology campuses, 18 Indian Institute of Information Technology campuses, and 19 other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) based on the rank obtained by a student in JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.
JEE Main score is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs participating through Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12thclass examination.
The total seats available in different courses in All the engineering collages is 1,30,356 including private collages.
